Voting underway to determine new public art for downtown Danville

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Danville Parks and Rec Department wants your help deciding which pieces of art to place on the city's Art Walk Trail next year.

People are being asked to go online and vote on five pieces of art being considered.

The two pieces with the highest number of votes will be added to the trail along with six other pieces that the department has already chosen.

They will replace the pieces currently on display.

The artists have loaned those pieces to the city for 18 months and that time is coming to an end.

"The pieces that are on display now will leave the city and we'll put in 10 new pieces of art throughout the downtown," Danville Parks and Rec Director Bill Sgrinia explained.

Voting runs through November 11.

Sgrinia said the new pieces of art are expected to start going up early next year.
