Two teens arrested after shots fired during Henry County funeral

HENRY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Henry County Sheriff's Office arrested two teenagers on Monday afternoon after shots were fired during a funeral service.

At about 2:33 p.m., the Martinsville/Henry County Emergency 911 Center received a call of shots fired during a service at Carver Memorial Gardens at 2256 Carver Road in Martinsville.

At 2:47 p.m., the suspect vehicle was located on Field Avenue in Fieldale by a Martinsville City Police Officer. During the ensuing traffic stop, it was discovered that two passengers were in possession of concealed handguns.

While this traffic stop was taking place, about 20 to 25 people came from the funeral to the scene of the traffic stop and attempted to cause a disruption. Law enforcement was able to de-escalate this situation without incident.

There were no injuries reported from the shots fired at Carver Memorial Gardens.

Keilo Anton Martin, 19, of Martinsville, was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a concealed weapon and five counts of reckless handling of a firearm. All charges are misdemeanors. He was jailed on a $4,500 secure bond.

Jacarre Doreya Hairston-Shabazz, 19, also of Martinsville, was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a concealed weapon, misdemeanor. He was released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
