James River High School teen killed in crash remembered

BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Funeral arrangements are set for a James River High School student killed in a crash Sunday morning in Botetourt County.

Visitation for Trystan Lowdermilk will be held at 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the service is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday at James River High School on the football field.

Those who knew Trystan described him as a good student with good grades.

Both Students and staff at James River High School were saddened by his death.

"Trystan was well-liked by everyone, students teacher alike," said James River High School Principal Jamie Talbott. "It's been a tough day and tough days ahead for us."

Police said Lowdermilk died after the car he was driving ran off the road, hit several trees and hit an embankment before flipping over. The accident happened along the 23000 block of Lee Highway early Sunday morning.

On Monday, the James River Knights and people in the Botetourt County community grieved together.

"We have a close-knit school community here and I've been proud of our students in how they have handled themselves," continued  Talbott. "The outpouring of love for the family and other students."

Classmates and friends will always remember the good times shared with Trystan including the recent class trip to Busch Gardens.

"If there is a silver lining to any story, Trystan was able to spend Friday with his classmates and friends and go on the senior trip," he said.

While the rising senior was taken too soon, he'll always remain in the hearts of loved ones.
