Cowboys pass through Southside riding to D.C. in hopes of sparking a national spiritual awakening

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Three members of a Texas church are riding horses across Southside on their way to Washington, D.C. in an effort to spark what they say is a much-needed nationwide spiritual awakening.

The men are from Texoma Cowboy Church in Wichita Falls, Texas.

On Monday morning, they rode along South Boston Highway from Danville to South Boston, where they'll stay for the night.

They started at their church 33 days ago and plan to arrive in D.C. on November 7.

Pastor John Riggs said he believes the country is heading in the wrong direction and believes turning it around begins with a revival within the church.

"That the church in America would seek God for revival so that we can see an awakening in our country. We need a spiritual awakening in America, but we desperately need revival in the church," Riggs emphasized.

On Tuesday, they will head to Richmond and then to Alexandria.
