ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – Halloween is right around the corner and that means haunted happenings are taking place all over the Roanoke Valley. On Saturday, hundreds came out for spooky themed fun at Mill Mountain’s Zoo Boo.
Kids dressed as princesses, superheros and other costumes and checked out all the animals while doing a little trick-or-treating. Zoo officials created the event to give families a safe place to celebrate.
“It gives the families a nice safe place to come up to spend their Halloween holiday,” said Bambi Godkin, Mill Mountain Zoo education manager. “So we always have trick or treating. We have local businesses here that will have candy for trick or treating, we have crafts. Some kids were making bat masks today.”
The free event also included Halloween themed arts and crafts as well as a costume contest.
