ROANOKE (WSLS 10) Earlier this week, Roanoke Animal Wardens worked together with Roanoke Police Sergeant Lovell to save a horse that wandered beyond its pasture.

Baby, a 7-year-old horse, somehow traveled beyond her pasture and ventured into a family's swimming pool. The home is located in the 1600 block of Imlay Avenue SE, in Roanoke's Garden City neighborhood.

Police say when Animal Warden Mitchell got there, one of Baby's family members was holding her head above water so that she wouldn't drown because she had been tangled in the pool's cover.

Mitchell immediately began untangling her. Lovell then led the horse up to the shallow end of the pool.

He walked her up the pool steps and out of danger.

Baby's veterinarian arrived later to check on her and said she was ok.
