Virginia Tech Rescue Squad offers new CPR class

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) – The Virginia Tech Rescue Squad wants everyone in the community to know how to perform CPR, so it’s making a way for that to happen.

Squad members are offering a new CPR class several times a month. It is open to anyone, not just Virginia Tech students, and lasts about four hours.

The class is based on research from the American Heart Association.

October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month and class instructors are hoping this will be a motivation for people to take advantage.

“I think that’s very important for anyone to know how to do because you never know when you could find yourself in a situation,” said Virginia Tech Rescue Squad member Mary McAuliff.

The class costs anywhere from $8 to $25, depending on Virginia Tech affiliation.
