Fire in Bedford County caused $200,000 in damages

Update: 11:40 - The Bedford Fire Department says it received the call of a fire at a home on 1155 Big Easy Place, at about 5:48 a.m.

The first units to arrive found heavy flames coming from a detached garage.

Officials say it took 25 firefighters from the Town of Bedford, Moneta, Stewartsville, and Bedford County Fire & Rescue almost 45 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Firefighter's say they held damage to the original fire building, which with its contents is estimated at a $200,000 loss.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious and is being investigated by the Bedford County Fire Marshall's Office.


UPDATE: 7:48 a.m. - Crews described the structure that caught on fire as a garage.

The flames have been knocked down and crews say they are working to make sure the flames do not start again.

Authorities confirm there were no injuries.


BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Bedford Communications says crews are working to put out a fire at two buildings.

Authorities say they responded to the call at 5:46 a.m on Thursday to 1155 Big Easy Place in Bedford.

Authorities say no one was in the building.

Crews are still fighting the fire as of 6:45 a.m and WSLS 10 has a crew on the way to bring you more updates.
