Pulaski County man accused of shooting, abduction to get mental evaluation

PULASKI (WSLS 10) - A judge ordered Pulaski County man accused of shooting someone and holding them hostage to undergo a mental evaluation.

Christopher Draper, of Dublin, appeared in court on Monday for what was supposed to be his preliminary hearing on abduction and malicious wounding charges.

Instead, the judge ordered a mental evaluation after his attorney said she was "interested in his sanity."

Police say Draper shot 47-year-old Robert Taylor and held him hostage at gunpoint back in June. They said he then released Taylor and locked himself in a house.

The preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for January 9.
