Two woman face child neglect charges following incident at Salem daycare

SALEM (WSLS 10) - Salem Police said two women face child neglect charges following an incident at day care.

According to officers, on May 15, the Salem Police Department received a complaint about a child who had been assaulted at a day care business in the 2000 block of Roanoke Boulevard. The child's mother told police that an adult female teacher had assaulted her son, while he was under her care at the facility police said.

Police said further investigation discovered that the child, who is under the age of six, had been wrapped securely inside a blanket and restrained by a teacher while he was at the day care. As a result of the incident, Jenna Seckinger, 22, of Roanoke and Meagan Henry, 28, of Salem were arrested on October 12 and charged with one count each of child neglect.

At the time of their arrest, Seckinger and Henry were transported to the Roanoke County/Salem Magistrate where they were released on unsecured bonds.

The child was not injured and he did not require any medical assistance. The incident is still under investigation.
