Downtown restaurant holds fundraiser to help officers who lost dog and home

ROANOKE (WSLS10) - A downtown Roanoke restaurant hopes to help three Roanoke police officers who lost their dog and house in a fire.

Food Prep Services Café and Spirits inside the Patrick Henry building will hold a fundraiser Saturday to help give back.

Up to 20 percent of sales and donations will go to the three officers. The goal is to raise $5,000.

"These guys need our help and that's when the community should really rally around them to support them in their times of need and that's what's going on," said FPS owner Jim Thomas. "I don't have the best means, but I have a venue where I can host a fundraiser and this is a place where the community can gather to show their support."

The event starts at 11 a.m. Saturday.
