ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Weeks before Thanksgiving the Roanoke Rescue Mission is marking the 4th annual Coatsgiving.

Until November 1st the mission will collect and sort donated coats to hand-out to families in need in our area.

Last year, the drive distributed 1,500 donated coats, many of which were collected by local students.

"We have nine high school who are collecting coats so that's just really cool to see the youth in our community see that there's a need and take ownership and just running with it and doing an amazing job," explained Amy McArthur, Roanoke Rescue Mission Development Associate.

Hidden Valley High School narrowly beat Cave Spring last year for the win.

If you would like to give, just drop off new or gently used coats at the Roanoke Rescue Mission until November 1st.
