Fire in Bedford County leaves four apartments unlivable

FOREST (WSLS 10) - Four apartments have been determined unlivable after a fire broke out in Bedford County.

Bedford County Fire and Rescue said the fire happened at about 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, at an apartment building located at 1289 Homestead Garden Drive in Forest.

The Forest and Bedford fire departments, the Brookeville-Timberlake fire department from Campbell County, and several EMS and Bedford County Fire and Rescue support units responded.

On their arrival crews found that the rear deck of one of the second floor apartments was on fire with the fire extending up the side of the building and into the roof area.

Authorities say It took almost an hour for the fire to be extinguished.

There were no reported injuries to residents or first responders.

Investigators have not yet released a damage estimate, and are still looking into the cause of the fire.
