DRMC cuts ribbon on renovated clinic in Chatham

CHATHAM (WSLS 10) – “This represents a special honor,” said Danville Regional Medical Center CEO Alan Larson during his opening remarks at the ribbon cutting Thursday morning for DRMC’s renovated clinic in Chatham.

After nearly ten months of renovation, the hospital’s Chatham Health and Wellness Center is officially open.

“Dr. [Minesh] Shah is a cornerstone in medical care. Danville Dental is also a strong partner in oral healthcare. We’re all together and now have added some unique services that will increase our ability to provide healthcare in this community,” Larson said.

Chatham Diagnostic Services has actually been seeing patients in the facility for a couple of weeks.

Digital x-rays and ultrasounds are now offered and soon mammography services will be, too.

“[The] last couple of weeks, we have done x-rays here and the patients have very positive comments. The staff is very good,” said Dr. Shah, who’s private practice is located in the clinic. “Also, the service is quick and sometimes before [patients] leave the building you already have a result.”

The facility was built several years ago with the hope that it would attract more doctors and nurse to the area, but the effort was not very successful.

Now, with the renovations and upgrades the hospital is looking forward to having more success.

“Dr. Shah, Minesh Shah, is a family practice here. We hope to see his practice grow and enhanced more by the services we offer on the imaging side as well as the sub-specialties that’ll be coming in,” said David Brown, Danville Diagnostic Imaging Center director.

Dr. Shah says he, too, is excited for the opportunities the wellness center offers.
