Danville community walks to end gun violence will restart next week

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Community walks to end violence in Danville will start back up Oct. 28th.

Danville Regional Medical Center CEO Alan Larson made the announcement Thursday.

He started the walks after DR. Randolph Neal was shot in February while walking home from the hospital.

The goal of the walks is to bring people together to discuss ways to end gun violence in the city.

Larson says now that summer is over and people aren't busy with vacations and other activities and because violence is still a problem he feels it's a good time for more walks.

"A lot of press has come out recently that we're maybe not making as much progress as we need to...so the hospital wants to commit our resources to reinstating those walks," Larson explained.

The walk on the 28th will start at the main entrance to the hospital at 6:30 p.m.

Larson added that he hopes to continue the walks through the winter and the spring.
