Poll: Nationally, Clinton leads Trump by 7 points

HAMDEN, Conn. (WSLS 10) - Republican Donald Trump's lead among men and white voters has all but vanished as Democrat Hillary Clinton has taken a 47 – 40 percent likely voter lead, with 7 percent for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson and 1 percent for Green Party candidate Jill Stein, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released on Wednesday.

In Quinnipiac's October 7 survey, Clinton held a 45 – 40 percent lead.

Now, men are divided with 43 percent for Trump and 41 percent for Clinton, while the poll showed women back Clinton 52 – 37 percent.

The poll showed that people believe the news media is biased against Trump: American likely voters say 55 – 42 percent, including Republicans 88 – 8 percent and independent voters 61 – 37 percent. Democrats, on the other hand, say 77 – 20 percent said that the media is not biased against Trump.

As to the belief that Trump is fit to be president, only 38 percent of  American likely voters say yes, while 58 percent say no. For Clinton, American likely voters, 47 percent say believe she is fit, while 49 percent say she is not.

From October 17 – 18, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,007 likely voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points through live interviewers and calling both landlines and cell phones.
