Little Free Library installed in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Looking for something to read? A Little Free Library is now open in Roanoke.

The library is at the corner of Salem Avenue and 13th Street and the goal is to bring the community together, while giving a chance for people to check out books.

Organizers said the goal is for people to take a book and leave a book. You'll have plenty of time to read it because there's no due date.

We want people to read more for pleasure just know that they can pick up a book and enjoy it, broaden their horizons, get rid of a bad day. Reading has so many wonderful benefits, but it's also a way to emphasize communities and neighborhoods in Roanoke," said Lucy Lee, with Roanoke Parks Commission

Roanoke Mayor Sherman Lea, who unveiled the library on Wednesday, said its one of six free libraries which will be placed throughout the Star City.
