Danica Patrick helps Martinsville Speedway raise awareness about breast cancer

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - Martinsville Speedway is once again helping raise awareness about breast cancer.

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick helped paint a portion of the curbs around the track pink on Wednesday.

This is the fifth year the track has partnered with NASCAR drivers to do this.

Patrick said even though she does not have anyone in her immediate family that has been affected by breast cancer, she is glad to help raise awareness for the disease and meet local survivors.

"They have a great attitude, they have a story, they have life lessons, they have perspectives and I always come away from these events feeling somewhat motivated," Patrick said.

Survivors, the track's president and members of Chevy's racing department also helped paint the curb.
