(WSLS 10) – Staff from the Department of Environmental Quality will make a presentation to the Franklin County Board of Supervisors. The department’s Director of Operations will talk about DEQ’s review of the Mountain Valley Pipeline and its potential impact on the county, as well as the review of the draft environmental statement prepared by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The Campbell County Republican Committee’s lawsuit against two former Board of Supervisors candidates goes to trial today. The cases alleges that John Ferguson and Travis Griffin made more than $875 in purchases by check and credit card on the CCRC account after they were removed by the Republican Party of Virginia for party election rules violations. In November 2015, both candidates ran for office under the Campbell First banner, losing to Republican candidates.

The Salvation Army conducts training for those interested in work with the organization for natural disasters. The goal is to have a team ready to respond to emergencies in this country. Today’s class is the second of three.

The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance and Chambers of Commerce from throughout the region holds the Jefferson Assembly today. It’s a gathering of business and government leader coming together to discuss issues ranging from economic development and transportation projects.
