Virginia voter registration deadline is Monday

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - If you want to vote in the 2016 election, Virginians have only one day left to register.

Although the election isn't until November 8, the deadline for Virginia voters to register is Monday.

Voters can register in person until 5 p.m. Monday. Online registration ends at 11:59 Monday night.

Registration can be done at your local registrar's office or DMV. Online users can register at vote.virginia.gov

To register to vote in Virginia, you must:

• Be a U.S. citizen

• Be a resident of Virginia

• Be at least 18 years old by Nov. 8

• Have had voting rights restored if convicted of a felony

• Have had the capacity restored by court order if declared mentally incapacitated.
