WYTHEVILLE (WSLS 10) – New businesses are coming to downtown Wytheville which include a popsicle shop and a crossfit studio.

“It’s good to see local businesses help startup programs and are mentors that worked with each of the individual contestants,” John Matthews with the Joint Industrial Authority of Wythe County said.

The winners took part 2016 Wythe In Business Idea Competition where entrepreneurs pitched ideas for start up money.

“It’s been a great opportunity from the Joint IDA Wytheville Incorporated, Downtown Incorporated. It’s really been an opportunity for us I don’t think we would have done this without their help.” Kevin Dalton, the second place winner said.

The first prize winner was awarded $10,000 and the runner received $5,000.
