City of Salem staff tours Greenville to better downtown

SALEM (WSLS 10) – Salem City leaders are hoping to implement ideas they received in South Carolina to make their downtown more successful.

The city manager and street scaping project members recently came back from Greenville where they spoke with leaders about outdoor dining, building renovations and how to pay for those projects.

Salem City Manager Kevin Boggess said the staff plans to share those ideas with city council in the coming weeks.

“It was a great trip. It was great opportunity for our guys who are responsible for the day-to-day talk with our council members who are responsible for setting the goals and the vision and make sure what we’re doing what we have a vision for is really practical,” said Boggess.
