River District Festival kicks off in Danville

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – Danville’s River District Festival is underway.

It kicked off at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

One of the many events is a Civil Rights exhibit at the Danvillian Gallery on N. Union Street, which showcases the city’s Civil Rights history.

Emma Edmunds, the exhibit’s creator, hopes people will take an interest in it so the city will create a permanent one.

“I thought by being here during the River District Festival I would reach broader audiences, perhaps even young people,” Edmunds said.

The festival runs through Sunday.
