Four rare fully restored WWII aircraft coming to Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  Four very rare fully restored WWII bomber and fighter aircraft are coming to the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport as part of the national Wings of Freedom Tour.

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, North American B-25 Mitchell and P-51 Mustang Announce Unique Display in Roanoke at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport/Woodrum Field from October 14 to October 16

In honor of our WWII Veterans ~ The Collings Foundation's Wings of Freedom Tour Brings Extremely Rare Bomber and Fighter Aircraft for Local Living History Display as Part of 110-city Nationwide Tour.

You can visit, explore, and learn more about these unique and rare treasures of aviation history. The B-17 is one of only 8 in flying condition in the United States. The B-24J is the sole remaining example of its type flying in the World.

The WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR will arrive at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport/Woodrum Field at 2:00 PM on October 14 and will be on display at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport/Woodrum Field until the aircraft departs October 16 after 4:30 PM.

Walk Through Tour Times (no reservations needed) $12 Adults / $6 Children 12 and under:

10/14/2016 - 2:00 PM till 4:00 PM

10/15/2016 - 9:00 AM till 4:00 PM

10/16/2016 - 9:00 AM till 4:00 PM

Flights take place before and after tours.

30-minute flight on the B-17 or B-24 is $450 per person

30-minute flight on the B-25 is $400 per person

30-minute flight training on the P-51 is $2200

60-minute flight training on the P-51 is $3200
