Women rally against Pence during stop in Salem

SALEM (WSLS 10) - Ahead of Gov. Mike Pence's visit in Salem on Wednesday, several female civic leaders and educators in the Roanoke Valley spoke out against the Republican ticket and what they say is a disrespectful attitude toward women.

This comes after recently-surfaced video from 2005 of Donald Trump making controversial comments about women. Trump responded saying the video is only "locker-room" talk, but local Clinton supporters said those comments paired with Pence's record on women's rights issues is unacceptable.

"Donald Trump's comments toward women, describing acts of sexual assault is absolutely disgusting. And as a woman, mother and grandmother I am outraged that a person like this is actually a candidate for the president of the United States of America," said Roanoke Vice Mayor Anita Price.

The group also noted that Pence voted for legislation that would limit a woman's right to choose, as well as limit women's access to health care.
