(WSLS 10) - Operators of the Gathright Dam will perform a pulse release today. Water levels will increase on the Jackson River between three and four and a half feet between 6 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Operators caution people who use the river to use extra caution as water levels rise.
Republican vice-presidential nominee Mike Pence will speak today at Liberty University's convocation. Liberty President Jerry Fallwell Jr. was an early supporter of Donald Trump and is a member of his Evangelical Advisory Board. This is Pence's second stop in southwest Virginia. He spoke in Roanoke in July.
