Lockdown lifted at Botetourt County middle school

BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) – Read Mountain Middle School was on a lockdown for a few hours on Wednesday after a written bomb threat was discovered.

The lockdown began at 11 a.m. and was lifted at 2:40 p.m.

The school says the threat was written on a door of a bathroom stall.

The building was not evacuated based upon the threat assessment conducted by school administration and the school resource officer in accordance with the school crisis plan.

After a thorough search of the building and grounds was conducted by school staff, Botetourt County Sherriff’s deputies and other cooperating agencies, no evidence of a bomb or other threat was found.
