Virginia Western Community College working to help former ITT Tech students

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Virginia Western Community College is working to help students finish what they couldn't at ITT Technical Institute.

ITT Tech closed its career schools nationwide last month, including the one in Salem.

Virginia Western is stepping in to help and holding information sessions to help graduates, as well as students who didn't get to finish their programs, do so.

Nearly 20 ITT students attended Tuesday's session.

Virginia Western educators said they're encouraging them to apply to their nursing program.

I hope this will help. We feel really strongly that the student should have an opportunity to complete nursing degrees and again will try to direct them down the right path way and do all that we can," said School of Health Professionals Dean Carole Graham.

Students who could not attend Tuesday's session can complete a form online to be directly contacted by an enrollment specialist.
