Hundreds without power, roads closed as crews work to clean up after Matthew

Roxie Bustamante – CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The effects of Hurricane Matthew, though considerably less than those in North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia, are still lingering in Central Virginia in the form of power outages and blocked roads.

Hundreds are still without power throughout the region.

As of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, 632 residents were still without power.

8News' Roxie Bustamante was live in Chesterfield with a look at what residents are facing.

In one Chesterfield County neighborhood, located on Ghent Circle near Ghent Drive, a massive tree uprooted and fell onto a car.

Otherwise, there's caution tape blocking downed power lines as people are using their generators as they remain without power.

According to Dominion Power's website, crews hope to have power restored to all customers in Central Virginia by 5 p.m. today.
