Hokies Look for More Success on Hardwoods

One thing that stands out this season as the Hokies look to retake the court, is their strength of schedule and the travel that’s involved. Aside from the grueling ACC, the team travels to California for the Wooden Legacy and from there they’re off to Michigan for the ACC/BIG TEN Challenge.

“I’ve always felt like that the best answer for scheduling and non-conference should be to prepare your team for conference”, said third year head coach Buzz Williams.

Speaking of conference the Hokies rattled off 6 ACC wins at the end of the 2015-2016 season- good enough to earn them a spot in the NIT. Now, Tech is putting that in the past and focusing on this season. Players say they’ve taken advantage of the summer refocusing on their game, both mentally and physically, with some even taking drastic measures as tip-off approaches.

“We literally been sleeping in the gym like crazy like we try to sleep in the gym we stayed in the cold so we’ve been taking care of our body so we’ve had a good summer”, said forward Zach LeDay.

“I’d say the biggest improvements are that everybody individually in the summer works on their game like individually to make their self a better basketball player by them self”, said guard Seth Allen.

As I found out, some are looking to improve on the court in more ways than one this season. Guard Justin Robinson flipped the script and showed off his inner reporter skills.
