RICHMOND (WSLS 10) – When you head to the polls on November 8, you’ll have the option to vote on two proposed amendments to the Virginia constitution.
One would prohibit companies from making it mandatory for you to be a member of a union in order to work there.
It’s a law that’s already in the Virginia State Code but some think it’s there for political purposes.
57th District Delegate David Toscano said, “I think conservative legislators wanted to find a way to increase conservative turnout, and i think that’s what they did, is try to put a wedge issue on the ballot to get more people to come out and vote in the election.”
Another amendment up for a vote would allow localities the option of providing property tax exemptions for the spouses of police officers, firefighters and other first responders, killed in the line of duty.
