Salem selected to host NCAA DIII soccer championships

SALEM (WSLS 10) - Salem will now host the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships on December 2 and 3.

Last month, the NCAA decided to move its championships for the 2016-17 school year out of North Carolina.

Kerr Stadium will host the championships and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference will serve as a host.

Salem has hosted the Division III Football Championship game every year since 1993, but this will be the first time the city has hosted the  Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships for the first time.

In addition to moving this championship to Salem,  The Division I Women's Soccer Championship will now be played in San Jose, Calif.; Division I Men's Basketball First/Second Rounds will be in Greenville, S.C.; Division I Women's Golf Regional will be in Athens, Ga.; Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will be in Chattanooga, Tenn.; Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship will be in Boston and Division II Baseball Championship will be in Grand Prairie, Texas.
