God's Pit Crew loading up to help hurricane victims

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - God's Pit Crew is loaded up and ready to respond to help victims of Hurricane Matthew.

On Friday, a semi trailer was packed with water and energy drinks to be taken to whatever area gets hit hardest by the hurricane.

Another trailer was loaded with equipment that volunteers will use to help clean up the damage.

Founder Randy Johnson said while the warehouse has a lot of water stocked up, more is needed.

"We can ship 10 to 12 tractor-trailer loads a week pretty easily into these disaster areas, so the water that's sitting behind us will not last long at all," Johnson emphasized.

On Saturday, volunteers will be packing blessing buckets, which may also end up being used to help hurricane victims.

Aside from water, Johnson says bath towels, flashlights, and batteries are needed the most.
