Gleaning for the World providing relief to Haiti

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Gleaning for the World is working to provide relief to Haiti in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

In partnership with City Impact, Gleaning for the World is able to provide up to 10,000 hot meals a day for $1.28 apiece.

The non-profit is also collecting medical supplies, cleaning materials and bottled water to ship over to Haiti within the next two weeks.

"In the case of Haiti, so many people there are malnourished and sick and the supplies literally keep them alive," said the President and Founder of Gleaning for the World Reverend Ron Davidson. "In disaster areas people often think wonder what they've done personally, that God has caused this to come on them and they just need someone to come alongside and give them a hot meal."

Gleaning for the World also plans to send supplies to Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.
