Opera Roanoke set for 'South Pacific' performances

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Opera Roanoke is set to start its 41st season with "South Pacific" at the Jefferson Center on Friday night.

Artistic director Scott Williamson said dozens of actors and crew members have been preparing for more than a year.

He said the World War II classic is a show the whole family can enjoy.

"The story is a great love story and a drama, and a musical comedy all at the same time. It has a little bit of everything," explained Williamson.

"South Pacific" opens Friday night at 7:30 and there's another show Sunday afternoon at 3. Then the crew goes on the road to Virginia Tech for a performance at the Moss Arts Center on Wednesday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m.
