Lynchburg police investigating armed robbery

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police are searching for a suspect after an armed robbery on Thursday afternoon.

At about 2:48 p.m., officers responded to a reported armed robbery at the Allied Cash Advance at 645 Oakley Avenue. An employee and witnesses reported that a black man, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, entered the business and demanded money. The suspect then ran away with an undetermined amount of money.

He was last seen on Norma Street, behind the Food Lion. No injuries were reported.

Police say the man is about 5-feet-10-inches tall with a medium build, medium to dark complexion and a beard.

This incident is currently being investigated by the Lynchburg Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division.
