DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Goodyear plant in Danville will officially receive fines on Friday as the result of an investigation into the death of Greg Cooper, according to the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Compliance Program's safety director.
Cooper died on the job in April and was the second person to die at the plant this year.
Kevin Edmonds died in March and then Billy Scheier died in August.
In August of 2015, Jeanie Lynn Strader died at the plant.
The plant has been fined for both Strader and Edmonds' deaths and is contesting those fines.
Nearly $17,000 in fines were handed down for Strader's death alone.
The safety director did not specify a dollar amount for the fines that will be handed down Friday, nor did she go into detail about what those fines mean or why these specific fines are being handed down.
She said that information will be part of a press release that is scheduled to be sent out October 12.
WSLS 10 did reach out to the plant's public relations office for a comment, but did not hear back.
Once the fines are handed down, Goodyear will have 15 days to either accept the fines or decide to contest them, according to the safety director.
Scheier's death remains under investigation.
