Police: Man injured in Danville shooting has died

UPDATE: Police say the man who was shot Wednesday evening on Chatelaine Avenue in Danville has died.

Jonathan McDonald Hamlett, age 41, of Danville was pronounced dead shortly before midnight on Wednesday.

Police say he will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – Danville police are investigating a shooting that happened on Wednesday night.

At about 7:55 p.m., police say a 41-year-old man was shot in the middle of the 300 block Chatelaine Avenue, near Albert Street. He had been shot multiple times and was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center.

Police have no suspects at this time and this remains an ongoing investigation.
