Latino Festival this weekend in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - This weekend, people in Roanoke will have a chance to celebrate and experience another culture.

The 12th Roanoke Latino Festival takes place on Sunday from 12-6 p.m. at Elmwood Park in downtown Roanoke.

Organizers said it's a way to inform people about the richness of the Hispanic community in the Roanoke Valley.

"This festival is not only for Latinos, it's for the community at large," said Yolanda Puyana, President of Hacienda. "I think having a little bit of a transcultural exchange through food, music. [Will get people] more familiar with the Latino people living in Roanoke."

Organizers said this year it will include a voter registration drive.

The event is free and includes food, performances and family friendly activities.
