ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - People have been meeting at the Texas Tavern for decades to enjoy a cheesy western or a dog "with." But a recent meeting between the Tavern's owners and the stars of the popular TV show "Salvage Dogs" should pay handsomely for a local veteran's group.

When Texas Tavern raised the prices of burgers from $1.25 to $1.40, it was easier to change the sign on the side of the building than to re-pant it.  So they invited Mike Whiteside, Robert Kulp and their "Salvage Dogs" crew to film an episode as they removed the old sign from the side of the building.

"This will go in someone's man cave," predicted Whiteside, as he pointed out the seasoned barn siding that workers were using to frame the iconic sign. "In addition, a shelf will be added to the bottom, which would allow someone to display whatever they want, maybe a beer can collection, " laughed Whiteside.

The show will air Sunday night, October 2.  The sign is on eBay and open for bidding.

The online auction ends on October 10 at 4:50 p.m. with proceeds going to the Virginia Veteran and Family Support program.
