Schoolfield Restaurant renovation in the home stretch

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – Renovations are in the home stretch for the historic Schoolfield Restaurant in Danville.

The table, chairs and refrigerator arrived on Friday.

When the city’s mills were in operation, many workers ate lunch at the restaurant every day; however, since 2010, it has been closed.

Developers have been working to restore it into a fine dining restaurant for the last two and a half years.

A soft opening is scheduled in about a week.

“We’re very excited to have a chance to open a restaurant in this part of town that’s in need of something different,” said owner Scott Sliney.

Sliney said the signature red hot dogs will not be on the menu, but he will consider having occasional “Throwback Thursday” events to feature the old restaurant classic.
