School delays, road closures and power outages

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – More storms Friday morning are causing school delays and road closures.

Alleghany County is on a 2-hour delay. Pocahontas County schools are closed as they are dealing with flood warnings.

More than 400 Appalachian Power customers were without power as of 7:30 a.m. in Bedford County and more than 100 customers in Botetourt County. Those numbers have been increasing slightly over the morning hours.

More than a dozen roads were closed early Friday morning due to flooding and trees down. You can check the latest closures on our traffic section.

This comes as southwest and central Virginia deal with heavy rain and high winds for the third day in a row this week.
