Event happening 'Round Town for September 30 - October 2, 2016

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A new festival starts on Friday at Devils Backbone Brewing Company in Roseland in Nelson County.  Hoopla runs through Sunday. You'll enjoy 15 bands including headliners The Revivalists and Old 97's. There will also be beer and food and interactive events, like hiking, rare beer tastings, and human foosball. Festival tickets start at $10 and you can camp overnight too.

Williams Orchard in Wytheville kicks off its monthly Fall festival Saturday. There will be pick-your-own pumpkins, a corn maze, hayrides, a bounce house and other activities. It's open from 10-to 5 Saturday and Sunday Noon to 5.

The final Parks and Arts of the summer is Saturday in Roanoke at Horton Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. See local and regional artists, dancers, and musicians showcase their talents. Through the program, the city hopes to strengthen support for neighborhood-based art and culture; attract and retain artists by supporting programs that encourage them to live and work in Roanoke's neighborhoods; and develop new audiences for arts and cultural groups and individual artists.

The region's first and largest dog and family festival returns at the Saint Francis Service Dogs facility in Roanoke. Bring your dog to the Doggy Day Spa to have their ears cleaned, their nails done, and doggy massage! The kid's play area includes face painting, inflatables, games, and prizes. There will be live music, prize drawings all day, and more. John Carlin is hosting the Parade of Breeds at 1:30.

Enjoy a fall paddle on Philpott Lake with the Dan River Basin Association on Saturday. The four-mile paddle on the lake in Franklin County is from Ryan's Branch Recreation Area to Calico Rock. Three Rivers Outfitters of Eden will offer boat rentals and shuttle for the outing.

The Willard Companies, in conjunction with the Smith Mountain Lake YMCA, present an Oktoberfest and 5K Trail Race event on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Westlake Towne Center in front of Sunken City Brewery. The 5K Trail Race will start at 10:30 a.m. and the Oktoberfest from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

The 8th annual Military Appreciation Tournament is Sunday at the Botetourt Sports Complex. Liberty University, Virginia Tech and Richard Bland College will play. Veterans will be recognized at 12:50 p.m. and games are are 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Donations will be accepted and proceeds go to the Military Family Support Center.
