St. Francis Service Dogs Foundation prepares for 12th Annual DogtoberFest

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The 12th Annual DogtoberFest is right around the corner.

On Saturday, 1,000 dogs and their owners are expected to pack the St. Francis Service Dogs center in Roanoke.

The event features live music, beer and wine, plus a number of activities for dogs, including a pet spa and costume contest.

This is the foundation's largest fundraiser and is expected to bring in nearly $30,000 in donations.

"We really count on private donations, grants and fundraisers like DogtoberFest to fulfill our mission and the need for service dogs," said the foundation's Development Director Niki Voudren.

WSLS 10 is a proud sponsor of the event and our very own John Carlin has the honor to emcee the parade of dogs.

It costs $2 to get in and proof of rabies vaccine must be shown for all dogs going to the event.
