SMYTH COUNTY (WSLS 10) - One man is dead after he was hit hit by a car on Route 11.
Virginia State police say 33-year-old Michael J. Rouse, of Chilhowie, was walking along Route 11 on Monday, when ee was hit by a woman driving a car.

The crash happened at 10:20 p.m., just north of Route 660.
Police say the woman was unable to avoid hitting him and he died at the scene.
She was not injured, and the crash remains under investigation.
