Salvation Army to begin 2016 Angel Tree registration

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Salvation Army wants you to start thinking about Christmas.

Next week, the non-profit will begin signing up families for its Angel Tree program.

If you live in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Vinton, Salem or Botetourt County and have children between birth and 12-years-old you could qualify.

Registration last for two weeks. From October 3-7, it will be from 9 - 11:30 a.m and 1 - 3 p.m.. Then from October 10-14 it will be from noon - 3 p.m. and 4 - 6 p.m..

Five pieces of documentation are required to register:

  • Valid Photo ID (Driver's license, D V ID, Picture ID or passport)
  • Birth certificates
  • Proof of total income
  • Proof of expenses (Utility bills, rent receipts, etc.)
  • Children's clothing and shoe sizes.
  • If you are missing any one of these requirements, you will be asked to return to return with all the necessary information.

    To register, go to The Salvation Army's main entrance at 724 Dale Avenue in Roanoke.

    The Salvation Army asks that you do not bring children with you when you come to register.
