ALLEGHANY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Alleghany County Public Safety officials are investigating an apartment fire at the Alleghany Building apartment complex in Clifton Forge. Officials said about 20-25 people who live there were evacuated because water got into the HVAC and electrical systems. Most of them have places to stay for the night, however Red Cross is providing assistance for 7 people.
Firefighters said the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. in one apartment unit. It was not destroyed. However, there is significant water damage from the sprinkler system said authorities. Crews said no one was hurt.
