(WSLS 10) - The New River Health District offers free seasonal flu vaccines at a special drive-thru clinic from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Radford City Fire and Rescue Building. 300 doses will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The timing and duration of flu seasons vary but it takes up to two weeks to develop the vaccine's full protection. Each year in the U.S. approximately 200,000 people are hospitalized due to flu illness, and flu-related deaths range from 3,000 to 49,000 each year, averaging 24,000 per year over the last three decades.

The Roanoke Childrens Theater celebrates moving into the Jefferson Center with a ribbon cutting and party. They were previously located in the Dumas {Du-mus} Center.  Tonight from 6-7 there will be food, drinks and crafts for the kids before the opening of "The Big Friendly Giant".

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets welcome members of the Class of 1966 back to campus to celebrate their entrance into the Old Guard. Cadets will honor them with a pass in review as a part of their parade beginning at 3:30 p.m. on the Drillfield in front of Burruss Hall. One of the people who will be there is 103 year old Cecil Balderson. He was a student from 1932 to 1934 and is believed to be the university's oldest living alumnus.

Downtown Christiansburg Inc. Brings back the popular Food Truck Rodeo for a fourth year. The event is rain or shine from 5pm - 10pm Friday on West Main Street, between South Franklin Street and Dunkley Street NW, in downtown Christiansburg. Thousands of people are expected for the new food trucks, local craft beer and wine, and two live bands.

Kick the Can Presents Parkway Downtown from 5-8:30 p.m. at Salem's Library Square for music by The Judy Chops food by Long Fin Grill and the beer by Salem's Parkway Brewing Company! It's family friendly and free to get in. This comes after the City of Salem got feedback earlier this year saying people wanted more live music.

In Lynchburg you can expect to see road closures and traffic pattern changes on Greenview Drive, Airport Road and Leesville Road beginning today. It is anticipated that at least one travel lane and one turn lane in each direction will be available throughout the duration of the project, which is slated for completion in July 2017. The only exceptions are possible temporary closures during intersection paving and other appropriate activities.
