Man wanted in Carroll County arrested after chase in Wythe County

WYTHE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The man who allegedly stole a car near Galax and drove it head-on into a Carroll County deputy's vehicle was arrested in Wythe County on Friday.

Wythe County Sheriff Keith Dunagan said Kevin Nelson Beasley, 26, was arrested after fleeing from deputies in Carroll County.

Dunagan said they received a tip that Beasley stole another vehicle in the Austinville area of the Wythe County at about 11:20 a.m. on Friday.

Deputies saw the stolen vehicle and Beasley lead them again on another chase for about 3 miles. He wrecked the vehicle and got into a fight with deputies, but was taken into custody, according to Dunagan.

Dunagan said Beasley is charged with reckless driving, felony eluding officer, resisting arrest and assault on law enforcement officer.

Dunagan also said that Beasley also had cases on file where he failed to appear in General District Court.
