(WSLS 10) - The trial for the man charged with attempted capital murder in Pittsylvania County is expected to wrap up today. David Frizzell's capital murder charge comes from an incident in October of last year. Deputies say that when they pulled Frizzell over, he got out of the car holding a gun, which he refused to drop. He was then shot by a deputy.

Delegate Sam Rasoul moderates the third annual Education Town Hall on Public Schools. The discuss will center around issues affecting schools and will look for ideas to address them. The town hall begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Gainsboro Public Library in Roanoke.

The Bedford Area Business Expo is tonight. The Chamber of Commerce holds the event to allow businesses and the general public to connect with each other. More than sixty companies will set up displays.

Homecoming week continues at Virginia Tech. Tonight Hunter Hayes will perform with Ryan Lafferty in Burruss Auditorium. Tickets are still available. They are $35 for the public. The homecoming parade is Saturday morning before the game against East Carolina.

The first monthly session of the I Love a Vet Caregivers Group meets tonight in Danville. The event brings together caregivers and family members of veterans to learn about ways to better care for those who served our country.

The Oscar Meyer Wienermobile visits southwest Virginia starting today. You can see it from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Kroger in Salem and from 3:30 to 6:30 at the Bonsack Kroger. It will appear at the Kroger Stores on Brandon Avenue and Brambleton Avenue tomorrow.

Political commentator Ben Shapiro will speak today at Roanoke College. He is a nationally syndicated columnist, author and political commentator. Shapiro will talk about free speech on college campuses and political topics.

Dieticians from Carilion Clinic will give a grocery store tour today in Henry County. They will talk about food labels and walk through different sections of the store, showing what to buy and what not to buy to maintain a healthy diet.

"Survive and Thrive" returns to Pulaski County today. The event is held in recognition of National Preparedness Month. Several organizations in the county will come together to help people prepare for the unexpected. There will be free health screenings, information on how to prepare for and survive natural disasters and interactive learning opportunities. The event runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Randolph Park in Dublin.

Governor Terry McAuliffe travels to southwest Virginia today. He will start the day in Blacksburg to kick off the No Kid Hungry Summit. He then travels to Roanoke to attend a Clean Energy Business Roundtable.

The City of Lynchburg will test its emergency notification system tonight at 6:30 p.m. Those signed to receive alerts will receive a call, text message and email from the city. City leaders encourage you to register your cell phone as well as land line telephone to make sure that you receive emergency messages.

Big Brothers Big Sisters holds a meeting with county administrators and stakeholders today in Blacksburg, talking about the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Mentoring Program. It connects kids with mentors in the STEM industry. The program launched this year for middle schoolers.
